Historical Peninsula Tour – Gems of the Old City

Our old city tour will start by visiting Topkapı Palace remaining today from the 15th Century at the time of the Ottoman Empire, which is an impressive example of Ottoman architecture and one of the key attractions in Istanbul.

After that, we will visit the Sultan Ahmet Mosque, popularly known as the Blue Mosque. We will closely examine the magnificent architecture of the mosque, which dominates the magnificent silhouette of Istanbul with its elegant composition of rising domes.

  • Since Sultanahmet Mosque is a place of worship open to the public, there is no entrance fee.

Then we will tour the Hippodrome of Constantinople, now called Sultanahmet Square, consisting of historical monuments and a public square surrounding the old racetrack. Here we will see the Theodosius Obelisk, the Serpent Column and the Masonry Obelisk, which were once located on the hippodrome’s spine.

  • Since it is a public square, there is no entrance fee.

Finally, we will turn our route to Hagia Sophia, an important Byzantine structure in Istanbul and one of the largest monuments in the world.

Note: Hagia Sophia will be the last destination. When the outside explanation ends, we will enter the inside with the ones who are interested in discovering more.

  • To avoid waiting in line at the ticket office at the entrance of Hagia Sophia, it is recommended to buy your tickets from https://www.demmuseums.com/tr addresses. Ticket fee for foreign visitors is 25 Euros.

Meeting Point

We meet at the Sultanahmet Tram station, in front of the Historical Sultanahmet Köftecisi, at 13:00.
